Killer Queen Jacksonville (KQJAX) Code of Conduct
The Code
We consider this Code of Conduct to represent our community's values, and we strive to uphold them on and off the cab. We will hold ourselves and others to these standards during competitive and casual play, during tournaments and associated events, as members of the local community.
- KQJAX has zero tolerance for racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia and discrimination against any marginalized group.
- KQJAX has zero tolerance for egregious acts that make a player fear for their safety (e.g. sexual harassment or threats of physical violence).
- Repercussions of abusive behavior may range from a warning to expulsion from
KQJAX events depending on the severity of the action(s) at the discretion of
the community. KQJAX reserves the right to deny offenders entry to their
events regardless of their home scene or date and location of the offense.
- KQJAX promises to work with Keg & Coin and other venues to ensure our spaces are safe and free from offenders.
- Any disciplinary action taken is solely for the safety, comfort, and security of attendees to our events, and is never done as a personal slight.
- Current list of individuals banned from KQJAX
- KQJAX reserves the right to remove anyone from the Killer Queen Jacksonville Facebook group and website services, at the discretion of the admins and moderators.
Offenses
After a first offense, the admin group has the authority to issue a verbal warning including an explanation of the rules and what subsequent actions could result in. If the player commits a second offense, however, whether similar or unique to the original, it is grounds for the admin group to speak to the bar and alert the player that they are on a final warninhg. On the third offense, the admin group has the power to remove that player from the games of that night entirely, including suggesting removal from the community altogether. Ultimately, the bartender is free to decide whether a player should be removed, even if an admin does not suggest doing so.
Furthermore, KQJAX has zero-tolerance for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophobia. Any actions deemed to be motivated by racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia, as well as egregious acts that make a player fear for their safety (e.g. sexual harassment or threats of physical violence) are grounds for immediate removal from participation in any and all community activities, and from Keg & Coin at the admin and bartender's discretion.
Players are encouraged to report this behavior whether or not they were involved in the exchange. The anonymity of the person(s) reporting issues will be maintained at all times. Players are also encouraged to point out any time an admin violates this code of conduct in any way.
Additional notes
Accidents do happen and some habits are difficult to break, hence enforcement will occur at the admin and Keg & Coin's discretion. That is, if the intention is deemed to be positive and not as ill will, especially between established players, no action may be taken unless concerns are raised by a player. However, please keep in mind that what is a joke to you may not be a joke to another. This includes certain memes which may actually be problematic in a racist, sexist, etc way you may not yet realize.
For Members of KQJAX
KQJAX players should be aware that they are representing our scene whether it is here in Jacksonville or in other Killer Queen communities. The same abusive behavior outlined above will not be tolerated while representing us within the Killer Queen community and ecosystem. This includes out of town tournaments or events as well as online Killer Queen communities (Discord, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, etc).
We ask that you all keep in mind the Keystone Code as a commitment to our core community values (summarized below and more info available at Keystone Code.
- Compassion: treat others as you would be treated; consider the perspectives of others.
- Integrity: be honest, be committed, play fair.
- Respect: respect all other humans, teammates and competitors alike.
- Courage: be courageous in competition and in standing up for what is right.
